EPICO’s start as Miracle Buddyshop
EPICO’s story begins all the way back in 2009, when Jens Morten Hansen established Miracle Buddyshop as a department within the company Miracle A/S. After 8 years of close collaboration, Miracle Buddyshop bought itself out of the project firm Miracle in 2016, as Miracle Buddyshop wanted to position the company as a consultancy firm rather than a project firm.
2009
Opens an office in Jutland
One year after we established Miracle Buddyshop (later named EPICO), we opened an office in Jutland close to Aarhus, and with this expansion, we had the capacity, knowledge and resources to cover freelance IT consulting services throughout Denmark.
2010
Business established in the UK
The company was still growing steadily, and with a desire to embrace a more global business, EPICO established a branch in the UK and could thus provide a larger network of IT consultants in Denmark, but also in large parts of the Nordics and Europe.
2011
Opening offices in Sweden
The business grew, and in 2013 we established our first office in Gothenburg, Sweden and officially operated in three countries. In 2014, we expanded further in Sweden and set up Epico Tech with an office in Stockholm. Epico Tech is deeply specialized within Oracle Databases and provide the most skilled Oracle consultants on the market.

The launch of EPICO Search
The company achieved further growth in 2013 and also established the Miracle Search & Headhunting department, which changed its name to EPICO Search in 2017. The unit offers recruitment services for project employment of IT specialists and managers, and with this department, EPICO now both help with the project employment of IT profiles and the provision of freelance IT consultants for shorter and longer projects.

Data, Cloud and Analytics became a department
Sweden was not alone in getting a specialized department. On the Danish market, we set up the CBI department in 2014, which later changed its name to DCA (Data, Cloud & Analytics). This department consists of a specialized team that provides specialized consultants in a wide range of areas such as business intelligence, data warehouses, OnPrim to Cloud, machine learning, AI and more.

EPICO NextGen was established
EPICO NextGen was established in 2016 under the name Junior IT Partners, but changed its name to EPICO NextGen in 2017. This department focuses on young IT talents with 0–5 years of work experience. It includes IT talents, who are either in the process of completing an IT education or recently graduated within IT.

Establishes nearshoring concept EPICO Poland
At the same time, we expanded further and set up another specialized department in 2016: EPICO Poland and thus EPICO could now also offer our new nearshoring concept, with skilled IT consultants geographically close at completely different prices and with a larger pool of qualified candidates far greater than what Denmark can provide alone.
2016
Officially changes name to EPICO
In 2017, Miracle Buddyshop officially changed its name to EPICO-IT ApS and got its own identity separate from the Miracle brand. The EPICO name is a contraction of EPIC and COMPETENCIES and thus expresses the framework for EPICO – the epic collaboration.

Establishes business in Norway
EPICO established a company in Norway and thus gained a better foothold in markets outside the EU.

New CEO in EPICO
Jan Hansen has been selected as EPICO's new CEO from October 10th, and will be focusing on setting a new strategic direction for the organization as well as further developing the increasing growth in the company.
2018
500 IT consultants on contract
EPICO reaches a milestone; 500 IT consultants on contract in Denmark, and more than 500 consultants globally. With this milestone EPICO is one of the largest IT freelance consultancies in Denmark based on number of consultants.
2021
New CEO and COO in EPICO
Michelle Mark becomes the new CEO of EPICO, effective from December 1st, 2022. Previously Michelle Mark held the position of COO together with Charlotte Thomassen, who will now be taken on the COO role across Denmark. The female duo will ensure the conditions, values, and financial results that will motivate and steer EPICO towards new heights in the future.

New Acqusition: Dynamant part of EPICO Group
EPICO Group is acquiring the majority of the Swedish IT consultancy firm, Dynamant, renowned for its expertise in mainframe solutions. This merger marks an expansion of EPICO’s Swedish division, which will now boast approximately 150 consultants, enabling us to offer our clients highly skilled IT consultants specializing in Mainframe solutions.
